Have You Heard of Third Wave Coffee?

Have you heard of third wave coffee? If you love artisan coffee, then there’s a good chance you’ve visited a few “third wave” coffee shops, just by chance. Third wave coffee roasters & shops place an emphasis on the experience of connecting coffee to your palate. They value customer service, sustainability, and innovative brew methods (like the Chemex and Hario V60).

Some describe it as a mindset of appreciation for the entire coffee supply chain. They consider coffee to be an artisanal food, almost like wine.

Intellegentsia Coffee

“We didn’t adopt Direct Trade practices because it’s a trendy way to do business; we introduced the concept to the coffee industry. Our commitment to direct trade allows us to cut out unnecessary importers and exporters, and enables us to truly partner with our growers.”

Counter Culture Coffee

“Coffee has the potential to thrive in healthy, biodiverse environments while also supporting the livelihoods of the farmers who grow it and the communities where they live. Our programs at origin work to push that potential.”

Sextant Coffee

“Sextant is an independent cafe and roastery in San Francisco. Founded by Kinani Ahmed, a first-generation Ethiopian, we work directly with farmers across Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, and elsewhere in order to showcase the most flavorful coffees throughout the world.”

it’s a big, wide world

There are many, MANY more amazing coffee roasters out there, and our goal is to help you discover them. We choose a new selection each month and ship it straight to your door (paired with good books, too 😆). Better yet, each one is a full-sized bag of whole bean coffee. Enough to share with friends & family, or just keep it all to yourself (until next month).
