Books

Lost & Wanted
Nell Freudenberger

Nell has published book reviews in The New York TimesThe New Yorker,  Vogue , and  The Nation. Her fiction writing has been featured in Granta,  The Paris Review,  and  The New Yorker. Besides including this awesome book in our box, we were lucky enough to have Nell write an exclusive author’s note for our subscribers too (included in the box)! We also have some signed copies that we’re going to be giving away to a few lucky winners.

Lost & Wanted is a love story that challenges the laws of physics. This novel seamlessly blends literature and science, a style of writing that is sometimes described as fi-sci. It’s a powerful exploration of female friendship, romantic love, and parenthood-bonds.

Sabrina & Corina
Kali Fajardo-Anstine

Kali is based out of Denver, and she decided to launch Sabrina & Corina at Lighthouse, where much of her writing career started.

“To be able to hold my launch at Lighthouse, where so much of my writing career started, is a gift. In my life, I make sure to pay tribute to origins and beginnings, whether that is my ancestors or my personal beginnings, and to hold my launch at Lighthouse feels like a way to pay homage to the young writer I was and the author I am becoming.”

Sabrina & Corina is a collection of short stories about different Latina women living in the western United States. It’s a powerful meditation on friendship, mothers and daughters, and the deep rooted truths of our homelands.

Build Yourself a Boat
Camonghne Felix

Political strategist by day, poet by night, Camonghne Felix is a passionate woman focused on sharing her truth.

Build Yourself a Boat redefines the language of collective and individual trauma through lyric and memory. These poems are packed with embodiments— not depictions— of black female pain, empowerment, memory, and discovery.

The Fantastic Teachings of Sister Corita Kent
Ali Nugent

Hey, I’m Ali. Thanks for reading my zine. I’m a recent graduate of communications from Monmouth University. I spend my time making zines about matters that are close to me, photographing concerts, and working on independent radio. The Fantastic Teachings of Corita Kent is a part of my zine-a-week project and tells the story of the only nun I would ever want to get a drink with. I hope you enjoy.

Coffee

Uganda Kasangal Farmer Group - Rwenzori, Uganda
Thread Coffee Roasters - Baltimore, MD

Thread Coffee is a women & queer-owned coffee roasting company based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are a worker-cooperative and use a transparent model of trade, buying coffee directly from farmers they want to be in solidarity with.

This coffee selection is a natural process coffee with notes of blueberry wine and dark chocolate, and a syrupy body. It even received a mention in Food & Wine Magazine.

Brazilian Cake Lady - Brazil
Red Bay Coffee Roasters - Oakland, CA

Red Bay Coffee is at the forefront of what they believe is the fourth wave of coffee—a firm commitment to ensure coffee production is not only high quality and sustainable, but a vehicle for diversity, inclusion, social and economic restoration, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability.

This coffee selection is a full-bodied medium roast with mild acidity. It has notes of golden raisin, nougat, and citrus zest.
